What is Fusion?
You might be asking yourself what is the meaning of “Fusion?” What kind of name is that for a youth group? We are delighted that you asked because we would love to share our purpose with you and how the name “Fusion” relates to that purpose. We believe that all mankind has a Creator, an Almighty loving Eternal God that has crafted us in His image. God desires that humanity know Him intimately and love Him to the fullest of their beings. History though is littered with people who have forsaken God and did not know Him or love Him supremely. In fact many pursue and worship things such as money, relationships, success, created gods, philosophy, hedonism, and sex instead of God. People may give up on seeking to know God but God continues to reveal Himself through creation, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Scriptures. God is speaking out about Himself, through revelation, to all peoples of every tribe and nation so that they might know Him and love Him. Knowing God intimately is the key to having life and leading a full abundant life. People of every generation seek a cure for death, a desire for immorality, a fountain of youth, and a quest for a long life but it is only in knowing and glorifying God that life is found and this truth is attested to in John 17:3. The Christian life is about knowing God and enjoying Him to the full, Pastor John Piper says “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” Fusion youth ministries is a gathering of Christ followers deeply committed to knowing God completely and being deeply satisfied in Him so that He is greatly glorified in us. Fusion’s Purpose Statement
The youth ministry desires to glorify our great God by knowing Him more completely. True knowledge of God results in loving God in thought, word, and action daily. We commit then to love God daily by reaching out to non-believing people, by uniting believing people in fellowship, by assisting the believing to grow in their faith, by equipping the believing to serve God and others in love, and by encouraging all people to glorify God with their lives.
Why We Chose the Name “Fusion”
It is our desire to know God completely which can only occur through knowing His Son Jesus Christ (John 17:3). The desire is accomplished by fusing together our lives with God’s Word namely Matthew 22:34-40 and Matthew 28:16-20. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines fusion as the “union by or as if by melting” and this is precisely what we wish to accomplish, the union of our lives with God’s Word. We desire our lives to be so fused together with God’s Word so that we may know Him completely and come to love Him and others more deeply.
